The Power of Humility - September 18, 2025

Scripture:

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” - I Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Devotional:

Humility is the quiet strength that acknowledges our dependence on God. It doesn’t mean belittling yourself or pretending you have no gifts. Instead, it means recognizing that everything you have, every talent, every open door, every blessing, but is a gift from God and is meant to serve others, not exalt self.

Jesus Himself modeled humility. Though He was the Son of God, He washed the feet of His disciples (John 13:5). He came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). True humility looks like laying down pride, entitlement, and self-glory in order to reflect Christ’s heart.

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). That means humility is a magnet for His favor. While pride shuts doors, humility positions us for promotion in God’s timing. When we bow low before Him, He lifts us up higher than we could ever lift ourselves.

Reflection/Challenge:

Today, ask yourself: In what area of my life is pride trying to sneak in, my prayers, my work, my relationships? Surrender it to God. Then take one intentional act of humility, it could be apologizing first, serving quietly, or giving God public glory for something He’s done.

Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.

Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.

Lord, teach me to walk in humility. Strip away pride, comparison, and self-reliance. Help me to see every blessing as a gift from You and every opportunity as a chance to serve others. Keep my heart soft, my spirit surrendered, and my posture bowed before You. In Your perfect timing, lift me up, not for my glory, but for Yours. In Jesus Name I Pray, Thank God, Amen.
