Lord, Not My Will But Yours - June 1, 2025

Scripture:
“Nevertheless, not my will, but Yours, be done.”
— Luke 22:42 (NKJV)

Devotional:
Sometimes one of the hardest prayers in the world to pray is, “Lord, not my will but Yours be done.” It’s hard because our hearts hold deep desires and dreams we’ve prayed for with tears and hope and sometimes things just don’t pan out the way we expect. But faith—faith is what carries us the rest of the way.

Throughout Scripture, we see moments where faith changed everything. The woman with the issue of blood reached out to Jesus and He told her, “Your faith has made you well.” The paralyzed man was lowered through the roof by his friends, and his faith moved Jesus to heal him. The Canaanite woman begged for her daughter’s healing, and Jesus declared her faith brought the miracle. These stories show us that even when circumstances looked grim, God moved because of their faith.

You may be facing a situation right now that seems impossible or hopeless. Maybe everything around you is saying “no” or “it’s over.” But faith bridges the gap between what you see and what God has prepared. If you keep praying, keep pressing in, and keep believing, God will honor your faith. He will do it in accordance with your faith.

When you surrender and say, “Lord, not my will but Yours,” you open the door for God to do exceedingly, abundantly more than all you can ask or think, His way. Even if the outcome looks different than what you expected. Even if the process feels painful. God moves according to your faith, which is still in line with His will. It’s not about losing the desire but it’s about letting God fulfill it in His perfect way.

Stay strong. This might just be the moment where God is stretching your faith and preparing you for His best.

Reflection/Challenge:
Today, make the choice to let faith be your bridge, even when circumstances scream “no.” Lay every desire and prayer at God’s feet, and say boldly, “Lord, not my will but Yours be done.” Then walk forward in trust, knowing that His plans are exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ask or think. Refuse to let discouragement derail you. Instead, let it drive you deeper into faith.

Prayer:
Father God In the Name of Jesus,
I come before You with open hands and a surrendered heart. I’ve prayed, I’ve hoped, and I’ve believed, and even though the outcome doesn’t always look like I expected, I trust You. Help me to keep praying, keep pressing, and keep believing. Strengthen my faith so that even when the answer is delayed, I will still declare: “Lord, not my will but Yours be done.” Stretch my faith. Make it stronger. Show me that no matter what I see, You are still moving. I trust that You will do exceedingly, abundantly more than all I can ask or imagine, Your way. I declare that my faith is not in vain. You are faithful. Thank You for hearing my prayers and for working all things together for my good.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Thank God and Amen.
