Faith Isn’t Avoidance - October 17, 2025

Scripture:

“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” - James‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Devotional:

Ignoring dysfunction is not faith.

Some of y’all call it “letting go and letting God,” but what you’re really doing is avoiding accountability and responsibility.

You can’t pray for change and still make excuses for the chaos you allow. God can’t bless what you refuse to confront.

At some point, you’ve got to grow up and deal with it. Stop spiritualizing laziness, avoidance, poor boundaries and poor decisions. Faith isn’t passive. Faith moves. Faith corrects. Faith takes ownership.

“Letting God” doesn’t mean sitting in mess and calling it peace. It means doing your part, being honest about what’s broken, and letting Him handle the rest.

Grow up. Handle your business. Trust God after you’ve done what He told you to do.

Faith is active. It requires maturity, obedience, and courage. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is have the hard conversation, set the boundary, or take the step you’ve been avoiding. That’s not doubt, that’s discipline.

When you handle your responsibility, you make room for God to handle the results.

Challenge/Reflection:

Ask yourself: Am I really “trusting God,” or am I using Him as an excuse to avoid dealing with what I don’t want to face that He’s already told me to.

Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.

Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.

Father God, thank You for holding me accountable even when it’s uncomfortable. Help me to recognize the difference between waiting on You and simply avoiding my own responsibility. Give me the courage to confront what needs to be addressed and the wisdom to know what to release. Teach me that real faith takes action and that obedience opens the door for Your blessing. In Jesus Name I Pray, Thank God, Amen.

Declaration:

I will no longer confuse peace with passivity.

I will confront what needs to be addressed and trust God with the outcome.

My faith is active, mature, and obedient because real faith works.
