When You’re Tired, Come To Jesus- April 7, 2025
Scripture:
”Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
— Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
Devotional:
Life has a way of draining you: emotionally, physically, spiritually. Sometimes it’s the daily demands. Other times it’s the pain of grief, financial pressure, uncertainty, or the weariness of just trying to hold it all together. But Jesus speaks directly to that weariness. He doesn’t ignore it. He doesn't ask you to fix yourself before coming. He simply says, “Come to me.”
This invitation isn’t passive; it’s personal. He’s not asking you to perform, He’s asking you to trust. To lean into His presence. To let Him teach you how to walk in Grace. The yoke He offers isn’t one of pressure or perfectionism. It’s light because He carries it with you. It’s easy because He already paid the price.
Jesus doesn’t deny that you’ll have burdens, He just refuses to let you carry them alone. He knows your limits and offers peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances, but flows from His heart. His rest isn’t found in an escape, it’s found in Him. And when you come to Him, you’re not met with judgment, but with gentleness. Not condemnation, but comfort.
So today, trade your anxiety for His assurance. Trade your restlessness for His rhythm. Let Him lead you. Let Him carry what you can’t.
Reflection/Challenge:
Take 10 minutes today to pause in silence with God. Write down every weight you’re carrying. Then, one by one, release each burden to Him in prayer. Say aloud, “Jesus, I give this to You.” Let His peace meet you where you are.
Prayer:
Lord, I’m tired. I’ve been carrying things I was never meant to carry. Thank You for inviting me to come to You, not in strength, but in surrender. Today, I lay down my burdens and choose to take up Your rest. Teach me Your ways. Help me trust Your heart. Wrap me in Your peace. I want to walk in the freedom and lightness You promised. I receive Your rest today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
