Keep Your Promise to God - September 15, 2025
Scripture:
“People, you made promises to the Lord your God. Now give him what you promised..” — Psalm 76:11 ERV
Devotional:
It’s easy to make promises to God in moments of desperation. When life feels overwhelming, we cry out: “God, if You get me out of this, I’ll never go back,” or “If You bless me with this opportunity, I’ll dedicate it to You.” But once the storm passes, how quickly we forget.
The psalmist reminds us that what we promise to God matters. He doesn’t need our bargains to prove His faithfulness; He wants our obedience as evidence of our love. Fulfilling your promise to God is not about perfection, it’s about consistency, reverence, and gratitude.
Think about this: God never breaks His promises to you. His word is unshakable, His covenant unbreakable, and His mercy never fails. If He is faithful to keep every promise, shouldn’t we be faithful to keep ours?
The enemy wants us to treat promises lightly, to delay obedience, or to make excuses. But keeping your word to God is part of worship, it shows that He has your whole heart, not just your words in moments of need.
Reflection/Challenge:
What have you promised God in prayer, worship, or in moments of desperation? Have you followed through? Today is a reminder: it’s not too late. Go back, keep that vow, honor that word, and watch how God honors you for honoring Him.
Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.
Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.
Lord, forgive me for the promises I’ve made lightly or left unfulfilled. Give me the strength to walk in integrity and honor You not just with my lips but with my life. Thank You for keeping every promise You’ve ever made to me. Help me to keep mine to You with faithfulness and joy. In Jesus Name I Pray, Thank God, Amen.
