Waiting Well: Trusting God with the Desire for Love - August 29, 2025
Scripture:
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)
Devotional:
When God elevates us, blesses us financially, heals us, or brings breakthrough in ways we prayed for, our hearts naturally overflow with gratitude. But for many women, the longing for a relationship still lingers in the background. It’s the unspoken “but God, what about this area?”
The enemy would love to twist this desire into discontent, making us believe God has overlooked us or that our story is falling behind. Yet Scripture is clear: God knows the desires of our hearts. He placed them there, and He is faithful to fulfill them in His perfect timing.
The challenge is that relationships are often the hardest area to surrender. We may trust God with our jobs, our health, our finances, but when it comes to companionship, we sometimes slip into striving. We try to get noticed, compromise values, or step back into old habits just to feel wanted. But here’s the truth: if it’s not God’s will, it won’t work. And if it is His will, it will work, and we won’t have to manipulate the outcome.
The goal isn’t just to have someone. It’s to receive the right one, the one God has prepared, the one who aligns with His purpose for your life. Until then, the waiting is not wasted. God is using this season to refine you, to strengthen your walk, and to deepen your intimacy with Him. Gratitude and desire can coexist, but gratitude must always lead.
Reflection/Challenge:
Ask yourself today: Am I waiting well? Am I grateful for what God has already done while trusting Him for what He has yet to do? Instead of fixating on the absence of a partner, shift your focus to the presence of God in your life right now. Let your love story with Him be your first delight, and watch how He unfolds every other chapter in His time.
Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.
Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.
Father, thank You for all that You’ve already done in my life. Thank You for open doors, for provision, for healing, and for every blessing You’ve poured out. Help me to wait well in this season, trusting that You see the desires of my heart. Guard me from impatience, compromise, and comparison. Teach me to keep my eyes on You, knowing that if it is Your will, You will bring the right person into my life in Your perfect timing. Until then, let my gratitude for Your presence be greater than my longing for anything else. In Jesus’ name I pray, Thank God, Amen.
