When God Takes Over - August 4, 2025
Scripture:
“Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am.”
— Isaiah 58:9(KJV)
Devotional:
Saturday night during our Jurisdictional AIM Convention shifted everything. It wasn’t just a service, it was a spiritual takeover. The kind of move of God where time stops, agendas are dropped, and the weight of His glory fills the room. Bishop couldn’t even formally dismiss. Why? Because God said, “I’m not done.”
I was sitting down during that service, and I wanted God to get more out of me than what I was giving in that moment. I prayed:
“God, I don’t want to miss this move. I don’t want to force it or fake it, but I want something real.”
Then a man came from across the room, pointed at me, and said, “God told me to tell you…” and began to speak a Word that was TRULY from The Lord. I cried. I didn’t just lift my hands, I threw them up in full submission. I knew: God was in that room.
He sent a witness to confirm: “I AM HERE AND I HEARD YOU, AND I GOT YOU.”
This wasn’t about a good shout or a feel-good moment. This was a response from Heaven to a room full of people who weren’t just in need, they were hungry. Hungry enough to lift their hands in total surrender. Hungry enough to lay aside flesh and say, “God, You can have all of me.” That’s when He answered: “Here I am.” God responds to hunger. He shows up in rooms where people are desperate for Him, and not just to desperation, but to those who are truly willing to step out of the flesh, leave behind familiar sins, walk away from comfortable cycles, and say, “God, I want more of You, Your will, Your way.” It’s not just about being emotional or overwhelmed. It’s about being fully surrendered, where hearts are open and faith is activated, fully willing to let God take over. And When God takes over, healing flows, chains break, and clarity comes. His Spirit floods every corner, and suddenly, what seemed impossible no longer feels far away. That’s what happens when the King enters the room.
God shows up in the lives of those who are tired of doing things their way. Those who no longer want to live the same lifestyle, chase the same distractions, or repeat the same patterns, but instead choose to walk in the Spirit, to live consecrated, and to invite Him into everything. That’s when He comes in like a flood. That’s when He says, “Here I am.”
When we surrender like that, heaven opens. When we worship not just with our hands lifted, but with our lifestyle submitted, God comes in with fire. That’s what happened in the service. You didn’t just feel goosebumps, you witnessed a holy takeover. The kind that silences schedules, confounds the enemy, and fills the room with the weight of His presence.
That same God will respond to you today, and not because you’re perfect, but because you’re yielded. And when you call Him, He will answer: “Here I am.”
Reflection/Challenge:
What is God asking you to surrender so He can fully take over? Are you holding onto comfort, people, habits, or pride? What would it look like for you to come out of flesh and into full obedience?
Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.
Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.
Lord, thank You for meeting me in my hunger. Not just in my desperation, but in my decision to die to flesh and walk in Your Spirit. I don’t want the same lifestyle. I don’t want to keep going in circles. I want You. Make me more. Come into my heart, my home, my habits. Rearrange me. Heal me. Dwell here. When You take over, everything changes and I welcome that change.
Lord, when You come, nothing else matters. Thank You for Your presence that still shifts atmospheres and breaks barriers. I invite You into every part of my life, my plans, my pain, my future. Wreck my routine if it means You’ll be glorified. I don’t need closure when I have You. Dismiss me when You’re ready, not when I say so. Fill me, God. Take over Jesus.
God, I don’t want just a visit from You. I want You to dwell here. Come into the places I thought You had forgotten. I don’t want just a moment of You but I want a movement. Take over. Every part of me. Every part of my life. Forgive me for the times I stayed seated when You were calling me to the altar. Forgive me for being more concerned with appearances than with Your presence. From now on Lord, I choose You. I surrender everything. Come, Lord. And when I call, I thank You that You still answer, “Here I am.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
