Stop Gambling With Grace - July 28, 2025
Scripture:
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?”
— Romans 6:1-2 (NIV)
Devotional:
Grace is not a loophole. It’s not a pass to do what we want and ask for forgiveness later. It’s not a gamble we make, assuming that because we didn’t see consequences the first time, we never will.
God’s grace is holy. It is sacred. It is the reason we’re still standing, still breathing, still being pursued by a loving Father who sees beyond our mistakes and still chooses to call us.
But there comes a moment when grace must be honored with a decision. Will you keep walking in circles because you believe mercy will always be there to clean it up? Or will you finally walk forward, away from the patterns that hold you back and into the purpose God keeps calling you to?
God will cover your weakness, but He will not bless your rebellion.
He will forgive your stumble, but He won’t co-sign your stubbornness.
If you know better, do better. If God has been dealing with your heart, don’t harden it. Don’t let delay become your destruction. Don’t wait until doors are closed to finally decide God was serious. Grace is still available. But don’t gamble with it.
Reflection/Challenge:
Is there an area in your life where you’ve been knowingly ignoring God’s direction? Be honest. What are you risking by staying where God is calling you to leave? What blessing might be waiting on the other side of your obedience?
Today, make the decision to stop gambling with grace and start responding to it.
Prayer:
Father God, in the Name of Jesus,
Thank You for another day. Thank You for waking me up this morning, starting me on my way, clothing me in my right mind, and allowing me to see the dawn of a brand new day.
Lord, I ask You to forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings, and I receive Your forgiveness in my heart. Create in me, O Lord, a clean heart. Purify my thoughts, and cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of You, O God.
