Your Attitude In The Wait - April 19, 2025
Scripture:
”Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, 'children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.' Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”
—Philippians 2:14-15 NIV
Devotional:
What do you do when life doesn’t go as planned? When the door you prayed would open stays closed? When the answer is “wait” or “not yet”? Our attitude in these moments reveals more about our faith than our praise during victory ever could.
It’s easy to rejoice when everything is falling into place, but what about when it all seems to be falling apart? That’s when God watches your posture: your heart, your words, your trust. Will you grumble, complain, and let frustration overtake your faith? Or will you stand on His promises and say, “Even this is working for my good”?
The truth is, sometimes God withholds certain things for your protection, development, or redirection. His delays are not His denials, they are divine pauses to prepare you for the blessing ahead. The question is not whether God will come through. He always does. The question is: Will your attitude honor Him while you wait?
Instead of saying, “Why me?” try saying, “What are You teaching me?” Instead of complaining, choose praise. Instead of doubting, choose to trust. Because your attitude doesn’t just impact your emotions, it impacts your ability to perceive the goodness of God, even in the struggle.
Reflection/Challenge:
Take note of your reactions today. Each time something frustrates you or doesn’t go your way, pause and replace your complaint with a declaration of trust. Write down three things you're thankful for and watch your attitude shift.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust You in the unknown and remain patient when things don’t go my way. Teach me to guard my attitude and lean into gratitude, even when life feels out of order. I know You are working behind the scenes, and I trust that You’re using even this to shape me, grow me, and bless me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
