Planted and Unshakable - March 21, 2025
Scripture:
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
— Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV
Devotional:
When life is uncertain and everything around you feels unstable, Jeremiah 17:7–8 is a promise you can cling to. God says that the person who trusts in Him is not just protected, they are planted. Rooted deeply in the never-failing source of strength, provision, and peace.
The heat may come. The drought may last longer than expected. But the one who trusts in the Lord remains unmoved, because their roots are not in circumstance, but in God’s unchanging faithfulness.
This isn’t a shallow, surface-level kind of trust. It’s the kind of trust that holds firm in sickness, in grief, in financial struggle, in waiting seasons, and even in silence. When your trust is in the Lord, you don’t wither, you flourish, even in drought.
The world tells you to panic, to stress, to find control. But God says: plant yourself in Me. When you do, fear won’t shake you. Worry won’t dry you out. And even in the toughest of times, you’ll keep bearing fruit, the fruit of peace, strength, wisdom, and joy.
Reflection/Challenge:
Reflect on where your roots are today. Are you planted in fear, control, or what-if scenarios? Or are you rooted in faith and trust in God? Write down one thing you can surrender today and intentionally plant it in the soil of His promises.
Prayer:
Father, I want to be rooted in You. Not in my emotions, not in my fears, not in my surroundings, but in Your Word and Your presence. Help me to trust You more deeply. When drought comes, when things feel dry or overwhelming, remind me that You are the Living Water and I will not be moved. Thank You for sustaining me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
